Government Permit Management

Environmental management and water treatment systems in Costa Rica are regulated by various laws and government entities. Some of the permits with which we have the most experience and continually provide would be:

SETENA (National Environmental Technical Secretariat):
SETENA is the entity in charge of evaluating and granting environmental permits in Costa Rica. For projects involving water treatments, obtaining an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required to evaluate and mitigate any significant environmental impacts.

MINAE (Ministry of Environment and Energy):
MINAE is responsible for formulating environmental policies and strategies in Costa Rica. Collaborates with SETENA in the evaluation and approval of environmental projects. You may need to obtain specific permits from MINAE to carry out projects related to water treatment.

AyA (Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers):
The AyA is the entity in charge of the management and regulation of drinking water and sanitation in Costa Rica. To implement water treatment systems, it is essential to coordinate with the AyA to comply with the established regulations and standards. We are familiar with obtaining permits, including the delivery of systems to the entity itself.

Environmental Health of the Ministry of Health:
The Ministry of Health may also have specific requirements and regulations in relation to water treatment, especially with regard to the quality of drinking water and the location permit, necessary to obtain the permit in any system.

Senara (National Groundwater, Irrigation and Drainage Service):
Senara is responsible for groundwater and irrigation management in Costa Rica. If your project involves groundwater extraction or use, you may need to obtain permits from Senara.
